HEOS Surfer does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data.

How the app communicates

The app communicates only with HEOS-compatible speakers on your local network using the HEOS CLI protocol. No data leaves your local network except for:

  • Fetching album artwork and station favicons directly from URLs provided by your speaker
  • Querying the public Radio Browser API (radiobrowser.info) when you search for radio stations
  • Checking for and downloading app updates from heossurfer.com (via Sparkle)

None of these involve any personal information.

No tracking, no accounts

HEOS Surfer contains no analytics SDK, no crash-reporting service, no advertising framework, and requires no account of any kind. It does not track you, your listening, or your device.

The only information the app ever sends about itself is part of the routine update check: a single anonymous flag indicating whether a supporter license is present. It carries no name, email, device identifier, or IP-based profile, and is used solely to gauge — in aggregate — roughly how many people support the project. It is never tied to an individual.
